Sea Isle City Two New Proposed Building Ordinances

At a regularly scheduled Council meeting on Tuesday, December 11, the Council discussed two proposed ordinances.  Both have been placed on the agenda for the December 27 Council meeting.

The first proposed ordinance had its origin in remarks from the Planning Board.  Those remarks pointed out that parking requirements in Commercial/Mixed Use applications were on the opposite side of the fence from our Residential standards.  The ordinance would require that:

For up to 1500 square feet of living space:        One off-street parking space be provided
For 1501 to 1800 square feet of living space:        Two off-street parking spaces be provided
For over 1801 square feet of living space:        Three off-street parking spaces be provided

The second proposed ordinance would establish standards to regulate mechanical parking lifts.  The ordinance would prohibit use of these lifts in residential and commercial districts unless they are enclosed with a roof and shielded from public view.  Lifts would not be included in calculating the number of parking spaces required for proposed development.
